Ben Bartlett Resigns House Seat Amid Anonymous Allegations
Benjamin Bartlett, one of Nottingham and Northwood’s Representatives in the NH House of Representatives resigned today, April 26. On the day prior, I received an anonymous letter in the mail accusing him of violating the Hatch Act and needing to resign because of this violation. The Hatch Act prohibits Federal employees from running for or holding partisan public office. The anonymous accuser claimed that Ben Bartlett was employed by the Veterans Administration. I searched on a public database of Federal employees and found no record of Ben Bartlett being a Federal employee. I also called the Veterans Administration site mentioned to see if the accusation is true. My phone calls there have not been returned. I contacted Ben Bartlett for comment. He said: “have your source reveal themselves.”
Here’s the anonymous letter I received, asking that I publicize this information in the Nottingham Blog.
