Board of Selectmen - May 25 Meeting
E911
As discussed in the prior Board of Selectmen meeting, the Board wished to pursue a much more limited E-911 address renumbering proposal than the original one, which would have required renumbering about 90% of the addresses to bring the town into full E-911 compliance. Anyone affected by this will be mailed a notice this week. In addition to re-numbering addresses, some roads will require new names. A hearing will be held at the Board’s next meeting, June 6. Staff will provide proposed road names, for which resident input will be solicited. Then, Town staff will develop a finalized proposal on June 27. On July 11 the Board will vote on the proposal.
Mulligan Forest Debt
In the town’s last election voters were presented with Warrant Article #23 to pay off the debt for the Mulligan Forest. Despite the town’s counsel declaring this Warrant Article to be illegal and unenforceable because it violated the provisions of RSA 36-A:5, voters approved it 800 to 421.
Given the sentiment of the voters, the Conservation Commission decided to use its authority to propose to the Board that $117,000 should be taken from the Conservation Fund to retire the debt for the Mulligan Forest. This was approved by the Board.
Fire Station Debt
The Board voted to retire the debt for the fire station.
