According to a statement posted on the town website on Friday June 30,
“to streamline payment processing at the Recycling Center, cash or checks will no longer be accepted as forms of payment effective Thursday July 13, 2023.”
The new policy is controversial. Concerns have been expressed about whether this policy is legal in New Hampshire. One source claims it is not; however, in 2020 the NH legislature considered such a law and did not enact it and Politifact.com does not include New Hampshire among the states where state law requires cash to be accepted.
Is it maybe FEDERAL law? Is it still printed on the money "good for all debts public and private"??
