Selection of a Vendor for the Investigation of the Fire Chief and Lieutenant
The right-to-know request revealed information about the selection of an investigator. Prior to the board’s non-public session on March 28, the Interim Town Administrator had obtained a quote from his employer, Municipal Resources, Inc., for conducting an investigation of the Fire Chief and Lieutenant. The Town Attorney, however, proposed using their contractor to conduct the investigation on the grounds that it would be easier to keep details of the investigation from becoming public.
The investigation was projected to cost about $5k to $6k regardless of whether it was performed by Municipal Resources, Inc. or Charla Stevens billing at $325 to $350 per hour. The pricing was based on “up to 15 interviews.” If the board contracted the investigation on a fixed budget, this may explain why so many relevant people were not interviewed.
The board chose Charla Stevens. To my knowledge, the final cost of the investigation has not yet been made public.
Note to the Anonymous Person Who Copied Me on a Letter to the NH Attorney General
I doubt the Attorney General will do anything with your anonymous (albeit credible) allegation that one of our elected officials has committed perjury. You need to file an official complaint. Until you have actually filed a complaint, there’s nothing to report on how the Attorney General is handling that complaint.
